The ride-hailing service Bolt has officially confirmed that the driver of the Mercedes involved in a fatal accident in the Solomyanskyi district of the capital was on duty at the time of the collision, fulfilling a company order and transporting a passenger. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the company’s press service.
Bolt expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and injured, and also stated its readiness to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies to clarify all the circumstances of the tragedy.
In addition, the company assured that it is in constant contact with the passenger who was in the car at the time of the accident.
Blocked for two complaints: how the rules for drivers will change
The high-profile accident forced the company’s management to review its internal safety policies. Bolt assures that following these events, the app’s capabilities will be expanded and oversight of drivers on the road will be significantly strengthened overall, including through the implementation of stricter criteria for evaluating employees.
Specifically, the service plans to block access to the platform for drivers who receive at least two complaints from passengers regarding speeding, aggressive driving, or dangerous maneuvers on the road.

Currently, the company’s technical department is developing an updated ride-monitoring algorithm that will allow for a more rapid response to user complaints and immediately weed out traffic violators.

As a reminder, on the evening of June 5 in Kyiv, a Mercedes operating under the taxi brand veered off the roadway at high speed and crashed into a pedestrian underpass.
According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at the intersection of Vadym Hetman and Ushynsky Streets, near the Karavaevy Dachi neighborhood.
The crash killed a 12-year-old boy, a 47-year-old woman, and two police officers aged 21 and 23. Two men and a woman were also injured and are currently in the hospital.
The driver responsible for the accident is a 49-year-old resident of the Kherson region.
Kyiv police investigators detained the driver in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, have charged him under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules or transport operation rules by persons driving vehicles, if such violation resulted in the death of several persons). The penalty under this article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment.
