The Rivne Nuclear Power Plant has a new director. NAEK “Energoatom” has appointed Viktor Kravets as general director of the Rivne NPP branch. This was reported by the Energoatom press service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Viktor Kravets has worked in the nuclear power industry for many years and has significant experience at the Rivne NPP itself.
Who is Viktor Kravets
Viktor Kravets was born in 1970 in the city of Kostopil, Rivne Oblast. He received his professional education at the Obninsk Institute of Nuclear Power Engineering, which he graduated from in 1994.
His specialty is “Nuclear Power Plants and Facilities.” By training, he is a nuclear engineer specializing in thermal power engineering.
It was in 1994 that Kravets began working at the Rivne NPP. His first position was as an engineer in the Department of Nuclear Safety and Reliability.

Career at the Rivne NPP
After starting work at the Rivne NPP, Viktor Kravets gradually progressed through several professional stages. He worked as an engineer in the equipment commissioning and testing shop, and later in the technical and operational control department.
Starting in 2003, Kravets headed the Metal and Welding Control Department within the Technical and Operational Control Division. In 2005, he became head of the Rivne NPP’s Metal Control Service and held this position until 2017.
Since May 2017, Viktor Kravets has served as Deputy Director General for Quality and Management. He also acted as head of the “VP RAES” branch in the absence of the Director General.
In addition, Kravets has experience participating in international professional events. He has served as an expert at events organized by the IAEA and the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO).
Such experience is crucial for managing a nuclear power plant, as the operation of a NPP requires adherence to high standards of safety, quality, and operational control.
Who previously headed the Rivne NPP
For the past nine months, the Rivne NPP was headed by Taras Tkach. Following Viktor Kravets’ appointment, he returns to his duties as Executive Director for Production and Repairs at NAEK “Energoatom.”
Thus, the new general director of the Rivne NPP is a specialist with many years of experience at the enterprise who has risen from an engineer to a leadership position.
