Secret Service neutralized a shooter at an event with Trump: what we know

Secret Service agents neutralized the man who opened fire at an event attended by U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by journalist Caitlin Collins on CNN, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The incident occurred at the Washington Hilton Hotel during a reception hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association, which was attended by the U.S. president.

“The Secretary of Education is standing next to me; her security detail confirmed that there was a shooter in the lobby of the Washington Hilton. He has been killed,” she said.

It is known that during Trump’s evacuation from the event in Washington, Secret Service agents warned of gunfire.

The president was escorted out of the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner after a sudden commotion in the hall. It was reported that the event was interrupted after several gunshots were heard, and attendees were asked to leave. Secret Service agents armed with weapons entered the stage where the president was located.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the President is currently safe. As a representative of the administration clarified, the members of the Cabinet are also safe.

Attempts on Trump’s Life

As a reminder, Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Butler on July 13, 2024. The shooter was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

One man was killed in the incident, and two others were wounded. One of the bullets pierced part of Trump’s ear.

Another assassination attempt on Trump took place in West Palm Beach. An armed man left a note stating his intention to kill the politician.
