As of the close of trading in New York on June 15, the combined wealth of the world’s 500 richest people had risen by $336 billion, marking the largest single-day increase on record.

This is according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to the publication, the rise in wealth was driven by optimism in the financial markets.

This became possible after a temporary agreement was reached between the U.S. and Iran regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. As a result, the combined wealth of the index’s members rose to a record $13.3 trillion.

Elon Musk: The First Trillionaire

Elon Musk, the world’s first trillionaire, saw the largest increase in his net worth over the course of the day. His net worth rose by more than 10%, reaching $1.27 trillion. The main factor behind this was the performance of SpaceX shares. Following Space Exploration Technologies Corp.’s initial public offering last week, investors actively snapped up the company’s shares, causing its market capitalization to rise by 20% over the course of the day. As a result, Musk’s net worth increased by $164 billion.

The wave of optimism also pushed the Dow Jones Industrial Average to a record high, while the Nasdaq 100 and the MSCI World Index closed near their all-time highs.

At the same time, as Bloomberg notes, Musk’s wealth illustrates the striking inequality in the distribution of wealth between the global elite and the rest of the population, as well as the growing gap within the ultra-wealthy group itself.

According to the index, the world’s 50 richest people currently control assets worth $6.5 trillion, while the remaining 450 people on the list control $6.8 trillion.

As a reminder, the world’s first trillionaire, American Elon Musk, stated that his rocket company SpaceX could generate $1 trillion in revenue by 2030.

Elon Musk became the world’s first trillionaire after SpaceX raised a record $75 billion during its IPO.

SpaceX, Elon Musk’s rocket and satellite company, plans to raise at least $75 billion in a record-breaking initial public offering; Following preliminary meetings with investors, the company noted that it aims to reach a valuation of $1.75 trillion.
