The movie “Spider-Man: A Brand-New Day” grossed $355 million during its first weekend at the North American box office, making it the second-most successful opening in Hollywood history. This also makes the film the highest-grossing opening of the year in the U.S. and Canada. Reuters reported this, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

As the agency notes, the film grossed an additional $572 million at the box office overseas, including $121 million in China. At the same time, “Spider-Man: A New Kind of Day” posted the highest box office receipts in North America since the start of the global coronavirus pandemic.

The 2019 film “Avengers: Endgame,” from which the new Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland as the superhero trailed by just $2 million in gross.

The film was a success despite fatigue with the superhero genre

Spider-Man is one of the most popular comic book characters in the Marvel Universe. According to Reuters, he retains his cinematic appeal despite signs that global audiences are growing weary of the superhero genre.

“Spider-Man: A New Kind of Day” marks Tom Holland’s fourth appearance in the role since 2016. The plot of the new film centers on the protagonist’s struggles with loneliness and his desire for connection with others—and it is precisely this theme that has been well received by both critics and global audiences, Reuters reports.
