Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina defeated Chinese player Wang Xinyu in the 1/8 finals of the Wimbledon tournament and reached the quarter-finals, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
In an hour-long match, our tennis player confidently defeated her opponent 6:2, 6:1.
Now, in the quarter-finals of the tournament, Svitolina will meet Yelena Rybakina, a Kazakh tennis player of Russian origin.
Rybakina is considered by bookmakers to be the undisputed favourite of the match, with odds of 1.34 on her victory. Svitolina’s victory is estimated at 3.25.
At the same time, Rybakina is the favourite not only in the match with Svitolina, but also in the entire tournament. The Ukrainian tennis player is not a favourite.
The Ukrainian tennis player played her previous match with Wang Xinyu with a black ribbon on her clothes, as on that day Russia carried out another terrorist attack on Ukrainian cities, including the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital.
Today is a very difficult day for the Ukrainian people. It was not easy to focus on the match. It was hard to read the news in the morning, but I’m glad I was able to play today and win.
