Strong winds and frost: Weather forecast for April 24

On Friday, April 24, cool weather will persist across Ukraine, with strong northwesterly winds being the main feature of the day. At the same time, precipitation will decrease: rain will fall mainly in the east, and at night also in the southeast and Sumy region, while no significant precipitation is expected in the rest of the country. This is reported by meteorologist Natalka Didenko and the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

What will the weather be like in Ukraine on April 24?

According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, on April 24, light rain is expected in the east of the country, and at night also in the southeast and Sumy region, with wet snow in some places.

Most of Ukraine will remain dry.

Nighttime temperatures will range from 1 to 6 degrees, but ground frosts of 0 to -3 degrees are possible in many regions.

During the day, temperatures will rise to 9–14 degrees, while the northeast will be cooler—6–11 degrees.

Nataliya Didenko also notes in her forecast that the day will be windy, and temperatures will remain quite low for late April. According to her, most regions are expected to see 8–11 degrees during the day, and up to 12 degrees in some western areas.

One of the main weather threats on Friday will be a northwesterly wind. According to Didenko, its gusts will reach 7–14 m/s, and in some places will intensify to 15–20 m/s, i.e., storm-force winds. That is why forecasters advise being especially careful near old trees, billboards, and lightweight structures.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center also confirms that on April 24, the wind will be quite strong: northwesterly, 7–12 m/s, with gusts up to 15–20 m/s in most regions.

Will there be frosts in Ukraine on April 24?

A new wave of cold air will spread from northern Europe into Ukraine.

On the night of April 24, in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions, there will be frosts of 0–3°C

Level II hazard, orange.

In the rest of the country, ground frosts of 0–5° are expected. Hazard Level I, yellow.

No significant precipitation is forecast for Kyiv on April 24, but strong northwesterly winds and cool temperatures will persist.

According to Natalka Didenko’s forecast, it will be cold in the capital tonight, with possible frosts, and daytime temperatures are expected to be around 8–9 degrees.

Will it warm up soon?

Forecasters are not yet predicting any significant warming in the near future.

Cool weather will persist for a few more days, and in the east of the country, precipitation and even wet snow will continue in some areas.

On the night of April 25, in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv regions, air temperatures will drop to 0–3°C. A Level II danger alert (orange) has been issued.

In the rest of the country, except for the west, ground frosts of 0–5° are expected. A Level I hazard warning (yellow) has been issued.

Natalka Didenko also emphasizes that no significant warming is expected yet.
