Taras Kachka, former Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, will work at Ukraine’s Mission to the EU in Brussels. He will combine this role with that of trade representative as part of agreements with key partners, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on July 17, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The head of state noted that Kyiv is awaiting decisions on four additional clusters. According to him, Kachka will be able to most effectively carry out this work at Ukraine’s Mission to the EU in Brussels.
“Given Taras’s high level of competence and experience in trade policy, he will combine this work with the European Union with the role of Ukraine’s trade representative within the framework of our bilateral trade agreements with key partners,” the president said.
Zelenskyy noted that significant results have already been achieved, but it is now necessary to intensify sector-specific and more detailed work to advance negotiations on the clusters already opened in the process of Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
According to him, communication should also be strengthened with both EU institutions and the governments of member states in order to open the next negotiation clusters.
Taras Kachka was dismissed along with other ministers in Yulia Svyrydenko’s government. On July 16, Vsevolod Chentsov, who had served as Ukraine’s representative to the European Union since 2021, became the new Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
Results of Kachka’s Work in Office
Earlier, former Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka summarized the year’s work, highlighting Ukraine’s key achievements on the path to European Union membership.
According to him, Ukraine officially began negotiations on EU accession and opened two negotiation clusters— “Fundamentals” and “External Relations.” In addition, the European Union confirmed its readiness to begin negotiations on other areas in the near future.
Kachka noted that over the past year, the Verkhovna Rada adopted 27 laws on European integration, and Ukraine acceded to 23 OECD legal instruments and submitted an official application for membership in the organization.
