In Bucha, a man opened fire in the middle of the street: what are the consequences?

In Bucha, Kyiv Oblast, an intoxicated man opened fire right in the middle of the street; law enforcement officers quickly apprehended him, and no one was injured. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the Kyiv Oblast Police.

According to law enforcement officials, reports of gunfire on one of the city’s streets came from eyewitnesses.

“Security police, a patrol police response team, and an investigative unit were immediately dispatched to the scene. Security police officers, who were the first to arrive, promptly detained the offender,” the statement said.

It was established that the 42-year-old man was intoxicated. He got out of a taxi and began firing randomly.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

Law enforcement officials are currently investigating all the circumstances of the incident. A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Shooting incidents in Ukraine

Meanwhile, several incidents involving the use of firearms have been recorded in Ukraine over the past few weeks.

In particular, on April 19 in Chernihiv, near the “Hradetsky” hotel complex, law enforcement officers detained a man with a starter pistol—no one was injured, and the weapon was seized.

However, on April 18 in Kyiv, a much more tragic event occurred: a man set his apartment on fire, then opened fire on the street and in a supermarket. The attack resulted in deaths and injuries; the attacker was neutralized.
