In the first five months of 2026, 3.32 billion liters of fuel were sold in Ukraine—341 million liters, or 11.45%, more than during the same period last year. Total market revenue grew by 46.8% to 221.1 billion hryvnia. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Danylo Getmantsev, chairman of theparliamentary committee on finance, tax, and customs policy.
According to him, revenue from fuel sales in January–May increased by 70.5 billion UAH. Of this amount, approximately 17.3 billion UAH—or 24.5% of the growth—was driven by increased sales volumes.
The average number of cash registers in operation in the fuel retail sector from January through May was 21,052. This is 5,043 cash registers, or 31.5%, more than last year.
Getmantsev attributes the growth in the number of cash registers to the expansion of the network of fiscalized points of sale and the reduction of the shadow economy in the market.
At the same time, he noted that the problem of illegal gas stations remains a pressing issue. According to him, despite the efforts of the Economic Crime Bureau and the National Police, law enforcement agencies must completely eliminate the shadow segment of the fuel market.
