What is known about Emerald restaurant
Emerald restaurant opened in the center of Kyiv in September 2023. It is located at 43 Pavlo Skoropadskoho Street, not far from the Universytetskyi metro station. Its designers were inspired by the house of the Italian adventurer-traveler Franco Savoy from the early 1900s, which is reflected in its retro interior and concept.

The restaurant offers a varied menu combining European and Asian cuisine. The restaurant serves breakfasts, appetizers, salads, meat and fish dishes, as well as desserts. The dishes can be accompanied by tea, coffee, fresh juices, wines from France, Spain and Chile, as well as a variety of cocktails.

The interior of Emerald is made in an elegant style, creating an atmosphere of comfort and luxury.

The restaurant is equipped with two halls, a VIP room with an elevator, a professional kitchen, a bar, ducted air conditioning, a stereo system and a DJ area. There are also summer terraces and three entrances: two front and one from the courtyard.

How Emerald and Velour restaurants are connected
Until the fall of 2023, the Emerald restaurant was home to another restaurant, Velour, which is associated with the name of MP Mykola Tyshchenko.
It was a part of the Nasha Karta chain and offered guests gourmet European, Japanese, and Ukrainian cuisine. The restaurant’s interior was characterized by elegance and classic style, creating an atmosphere of luxury and comfort.
In 2020, Velour was at the center of a scandal when it became known that it continued to operate during the quarantine restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This caused a wide public outcry and criticism of the owner of the establishment, MP Mykola Tyshchenko.
In 2023, the restaurant ceased operations. The sign was covered with black polyethylene, and the doors remained closed.
In addition, another scandal is associated with the Velour restaurant. In 2023, Bihus.Info. investigators learned that the restaurant’s former director, Serhiy Vakalchuk, became the owner of property worth more than $1 million during the war.
on June 17, 2022, Vakalchuk was registered as the owner of a 322 m² house in Kozyn and two plots of land on the lake near the estate. The two-story house has four bedrooms, a cinema, a gym, an outdoor pool, a sauna, a playground, a garage for two cars, etc. The estimated cost of the house can range from $888 thousand to $1.8 million (it was put up for sale with such price tags in 2022-2023).
Mr. Vakalchuk is a former director of Rimid (the legal entity behind the Velour restaurant). The legal entity was registered on March 13, 2002. The authorized capital is UAH 14 thousand. The authorized person of the legal entity is currently Victor Kulik. The ultimate beneficial owners are Vitaliy Sitak and Volodymyr Shapenko.
