Prices for locally grown tomatoes have begun to fall in Ukraine

25 April 12:14

This week , Ukraine has seen a noticeable drop in prices for greenhouse tomatoes, according to analysts at the EastFruit project. Market participants say this price trend is driven by a seasonal increase in supply from local greenhouses amid subdued demand, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

Under these conditions, producers have been forced to lower their selling prices for available vegetable volumes. As of today, the main sales of local tomatoes are taking place within the range of 140–170 UAH/kg ($3.19–3.87/kg), which is on average 13% cheaper than at the end of last week.

At the same time, imported greenhouse tomatoes from Turkey continue to enter the Ukrainian market. Supply of this product remains limited, but due to the overall decline in demand, sellers are forced to make concessions to buyers and also lower prices for Turkish tomatoes. By the end of the workweek, main sales in this segment were conducted at prices starting from 100 UAH/kg ($2.28/kg).

Currently , local tomatoes in Ukraine are still selling for 60% more than at the end of April 2025. At the same time, most market operators believe that the downward price trend in this segment will continue next week.
