A court in Munich has sentenced a 58-year-old Russian man who killed two Ukrainian soldiers while undergoing rehabilitation in Germany to life imprisonment.

This was reported by the German media outlet n-tv, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The investigation established the “special gravity” of the crime. This means that early release of the 58-year-old convict is almost impossible.

At the beginning of the murder trial, the defendant confessed to the murder of a 36-year-old and a 23-year-old Ukrainian.

However, he denied the prosecutor’s version of his motive, which was that the crime occurred because the suspect felt his “national pride was hurt” because of a quarrel with Ukrainians over the war in Ukraine.

Instead, he claims that the quarrel was only due to alcohol. According to him, the Ukrainian military did not return a bottle of vodka to him and insulted him.

According to the court, a dispute arose between them. After that, the Russian took a knife and stabbed the older Ukrainian several times in the neck. The accused then stabbed the 23-year-old soldier five times.

The court also found that the three men knew each other and often met to drink together, as they did on the day of the crime, when they met in the center of Murnau.

On the evening of April 27, 2024, two Ukrainians with stab wounds were found in a shopping center in the German city of Murnau am Staffelsee, Bavaria.

According to law enforcement, a 36-year-old man died on the spot from serious injuries, and the second, a 23-year-old man, died in the hospital.
