Ukraine attacks Russian infrastructure with drones, damages thermal power plant

On the night of Friday, December 19, Ukraine launched massive drone strikes in a number of
regions of Russia, resulting in infrastructure damage and casualties. In Oryol, a local thermal power plant was hit, power outages began in the city, and local residents complain of interruptions in water and heat supply, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing Russian propaganda media.

The governor of the Oryol region, Andrey Klychkov, said that communal infrastructure facilities in Oryol were damaged, and that there may be heat, electricity and hot water outages in the Sovetsky district. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.

A missile alert was issued twice overnight in the region.

Strikes in other regions

Last night, explosions were also heard in Voronezh, Lipetsk, Belgorod and Rostov region. In Belgorod, a five-month-old child was injured in a Ukrainian drone attack, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. In Lipetsk, fragments of a downed drone hit a residential building.

In Taganrog, five private houses were damaged and three cars caught fire. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties. Rostov, Kuibyshev, Matveyevo-Kurgansky and Rodionovo-Nesvitaysky districts were also hit, according to Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar. In Rostov, a breakdown of a high-voltage line caused problems with electricity supply in a number of districts.

Amid the threat of UAV strikes, ten airports have suspended the reception and departure of aircraft.
