Ukrainians are buying fewer used cars imported from abroad: May’s most popular models

Demand for used cars imported from abroad has declined in Ukraine. In May, 18,000 used passenger cars imported from abroad were added to the Ukrainian vehicle fleet. This is 18% less than during the same period last year. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to “Ukravtoprom.”
Gasoline-powered cars accounted for the largest share in this segment of the car market—58%. In May 2025, their share was 48%.

Next in popularity are:
- diesel cars — 19% compared to 21% in May 2025;
- electric cars — 11% versus 22%;
- hybrids — 9% compared to 6%;
- LPG-powered cars — 3%, the same as last year.
The average age of used passenger cars that were registered in Ukraine in May was 9.4 years.
The Volkswagen Golf remains the leader among imported cars. In May, Ukrainians registered 825 such vehicles.
The top 10 most popular models of the month included:
- Volkswagen Golf — 825 cars;
- Volkswagen Tiguan — 737 cars;
- Nissan Rogue — 645 cars;
- Audi Q5 — 587 cars;
- Skoda Octavia — 555 cars;
- Renault Megane — 547 cars;
- Ford Escape — 410 cars;
- Volkswagen Passat — 392 cars;
- Nissan Qashqai — 347 cars;
- Mazda CX-5 — 331 cars.
Imports of used cars remain one of the key sources for replenishing Ukraine’s vehicle fleet, so registration trends reflect the level of demand for affordable used cars.
