Russia struck a high-rise building in Konotop: there are casualties

On the morning of June 8, Russian forces launched a drone attack on Konotop in the Sumy region. Several enemy drones struck a residential area of the city. The strike caused significant damage to a high-rise building, resulting in fatalities and injuries. The Sumy Regional Military Administration and Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported the attack, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

The enemy attack took place in the morning when Russian drones targeted residential neighborhoods in the city. The main strike hit a high-rise building, which sustained serious damage.

As a result of the strike, part of the building’s structure was damaged, and rescue workers, utility services, and specialized equipment have begun operations at the site.

There are fatalities and injuries

The Russian strike in Konotop has resulted in civilian casualties. Several city residents are also reported to have been injured.

Three victims were hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Medical personnel are providing them with all necessary emergency care.

Semenikhin reported that the body of a deceased woman was found under the rubble.

“Unfortunately, I have bad news. The body of a deceased person, an elderly woman, has been found,” wrote the mayor of Konotop.

Information regarding the exact number of fatalities and the condition of all victims is being verified.

The search and rescue operation is ongoing. All necessary services are working at the scene, clearing debris and searching for possible victims.

Half of Konotop is without power

As a result of the Russian drone attack, the city suffered not only damage to residential buildings but also infrastructure problems. Due to the enemy strike, half of Konotop is without power.

Utility workers and emergency services are working to restore power. At the same time, efforts are underway in the city to address the aftermath of yet another Russian strike on civilian infrastructure.
