The euro continues to rise: exchange rates in Ukraine as of May 26

In Ukraine, the official dollar exchange rate fell slightly on May 26 following a previous rise. At the same time, the euro and the Polish zloty continued to appreciate. This is according to data from the National Bank of Ukraine, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"

What exchange rate did the NBU set for May 26?

The National Bank of Ukraine has stopped raising the official exchange rate for the U.S. dollar. After a sharp rise, the dollar retreated slightly and fell in value compared to the previous banking day.

The NBU’s official exchange rates for May 26:

  • US dollar44.24 UAH;
  • euro51.52 UAH;
  • Polish zloty12.16 UAH.

For comparison, on May 25, the official exchange rate for the dollar was 44.2619 UAH, for the euro — 51.3305 UAH, and for the Polish zloty — 12.0994 UAH.

In other words, the dollar fell by about 2 kopecks, the euro rose by about 19 kopecks, and the zloty by about 7 kopecks.

The dollar fell slightly after rising

The U.S. currency, which had recently shown significant growth, fell to 44.24 UAH on May 26 according to the NBU’s official exchange rate.

This decline cannot yet be called a sharp reversal of the currency trend. It is more of a minor correction following the previous rise. On the cash market, the dollar also remains near the 44 UAH mark.

The euro and the zloty continued to appreciate

Unlike the dollar, the euro continued to rise on May 26. The official exchange rate of the European currency rose to 51.52 UAH.

The Polish zloty also gained in value. According to the NBU, its official exchange rate is 12.1688 UAH. This is an important figure for Ukrainians who work, study, or have financial dealings with Poland.

Exchange rates at banks

No significant fluctuations are observed in the cash market. In banks, the dollar, euro, and zloty are trading within a relatively stable range.

The situation at currency exchange offices also remains calm. No sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate have been recorded.
