The death toll in Kyiv has risen following the Russian attack carried out by the occupiers on May 24. During emergency rescue operations in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, rescuers discovered human remains. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
According to preliminary information, the remains found may belong to a woman who lived in the partially destroyed building and was reported missing after the shelling.
Human remains were found under the rubble of the building
Search and rescue operations in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv continued for several days following a massive attack by the Russian Federation. Rescuers, medical personnel, utility services, and law enforcement officers worked at the site of the strike.
According to preliminary data, the remains found may belong to a resident of the partially destroyed building who was listed as missing after the shelling. The identity of the deceased will be definitively established following forensic examinations, including DNA testing.
The building near Lukyanivka suffered the most damage
One of the hardest-hit areas during the attack was the Shevchenkivskyi district. According to Suspilne, a rocket struck a five-story residential building near Lukyanivka, destroying part of the building’s entrance. A rescue operation was underway at the site.
The blast wave damaged surrounding buildings: windows and doors were blown out in apartments. Local residents told journalists about the extensive damage, smoke, and the evacuation of people from a shelter at a nearby school.
Russia attacked Kyiv with missiles and drones
On the night of May 24, Russian forces carried out one of the largest combined attacks on Kyiv in recent times. According to Ukrainian media reports, the enemy used strike drones and various types of missiles, including ballistic ones. Explosions were heard in several districts of the capital.
Damage was reported in residential buildings, the private sector, schools, office buildings, and other civilian infrastructure. Fires broke out in the city, cars were damaged, and windows were shattered in dozens of buildings.

The consequences of the attack were not limited to the Shevchenkivskyi district. Damage was also reported in the Podilskyi district and other parts of Kyiv. According to media reports, debris and the blast wave damaged more than 40 locations in the city, including residential and civilian facilities.
Due to damage to the ground-level entrance , the Lukyanivska metro station was temporarily closed . Damage to buildings and structures near the impact sites was also reported.
