A powerful two-day magnetic storm hits the Earth: how to reduce the negative impact
4 March 2025 22:26
Today, March 4, the Earth was hit by a powerful 5-point magnetic storm. This was reported by [ komersant] with reference to Meteoagent.
According to experts, an intense red-level magnetic storm with a K-index of 5 has hit our planet today.
It was caused by four powerful solar flares that occurred a few days ago.
The magnetic storm will last for two days. High geomagnetic activity will continue on March 5. Tomorrow, solar activity with a K-index of 5 (red level) is expected, which corresponds to a strong magnetic storm.
On March 6, the K-index will drop to 3 (green level).

It should be noted that the forecast is subject to change, as solar activity researchers update their data every three hours.
Throughout the week, the strength of the magnetic storm will not exceed 2-3 points.

Experts emphasize that such magnetic storms can affect the health of people, especially those who suffer from cardiovascular disease, weather dependence, or blood pressure problems. During this period, headaches, weakness, sleep disturbances, and emotional instability are possible.
How to reduce the negative impact of magnetic storms
Magnetic storms are natural phenomena associated with solar activity, and although they rarely pose a serious danger, it is important to understand their impact.
Magnetic storms do not pose a serious health risk to most people. However, some studies indicate that mild disorders such as headaches, dizziness, insomnia, or deterioration of health in meteorologically sensitive people may occur during strong magnetic storms.
Experts advise avoiding stress, getting more rest, maintaining water balance, and minimizing physical activity.
To reduce the potential impact of magnetic storms, it is recommended to follow these tips
- avoid excessive outdoor exposure during the peak moments of the storm;
- limit physical activity;
- get plenty of rest;
- drink plenty of fluids;
- avoid stressful situations.
People with serious chronic diseases should consult a doctor about additional precautions during strong magnetic storms.
Drivers should be especially careful, as magnetic storms can affect concentration.
