A record level of confidence: the public has invested over 137 billion hryvnias in government bonds

Investments by individuals in domestic government bonds in April 2026 rose by more than 61.3% compared to April 2025, while investments by legal entities increased by 28.5%, according to the Ministry of Finance, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

“As of today, Ukrainian citizens have invested over UAH 137.2 billion in government securities—a historic high—while legal entities hold over UAH 221.7 billion,” the release states.

The Ministry of Finance noted that in April it held 12 auctions for the placement of government bonds, which raised the equivalent of 17.3 billion hryvnia for the state budget. The weighted average yield was 15.67% per annum in hryvnia, 3.23% in U.S. dollars, and 3.13% in euros.

In total, last month, following the results of the government bond auctions, over 20.3 billion UAH was directed to the state budget, out of the annual target of 420 billion UAH, while in 2025, approximately 570 billion UAH was raised. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the total amount of funds raised through domestic borrowing has exceeded UAH 2.2 trillion.

As of May 1, 2026, government bonds worth over UAH 2 trillion are in circulation. Commercial banks hold the largest share of the portfolio—47.09%, followed by the National Bank of Ukraine—32.94%. The shares of other investors are distributed as follows: legal entities – 11.07%, individuals – 6.85%, insurance companies – 1.23%, non-residents – 0.79%, and local communities – 0.02%.

According to data from the National Bank of Ukraine, public investment in government bonds has increased by 26.3 billion UAH, or 23.5%, since the beginning of this year, while over the entire previous year it rose by 33.3%, or 42.6%.

At the same time, the total volume of OVDPs in circulation this year increased by only 36.7 billion UAH, or 1.9%, while last year it increased by 104.1 billion UAH, or 5.6%.

Anyone can purchase bonds through the “Diya” app, at banks, or through brokers. The face value of a single bond is 1,000 UAH, 1,000 USD, or 1,000 EUR.

In the “Diya” app, investing takes just a few minutes: in the “Services” section, select “Military Bonds,” choose the type of bond (from a list of Ukrainian cities or territories), select a bank or broker, fill in your contact information, sign the documents, and make the payment.
