What is JDAM-ER

JDAM is a kit for aerial munitions that improves their accuracy. The Extended Range version has a longer range compared to the standard JDAM.

JDAM-ER is a high-precision munition with extended range that can be used to strike critical enemy military targets.

Who will be the prime contractor

Boeing has been designated as the prime contractor under the potential agreement. It will be responsible for the bulk of the supply and related support.

The State Department also emphasized that the proposed sale will not have a negative impact on U.S. defense capabilities.

“This proposed sale will not have a negative impact on U.S. defense capabilities,” the U.S. State Department stated.

Does this mean immediate delivery?

State Department approval is an important step, but it does not yet mean that the contract has been signed and deliveries will begin immediately.

Under the Foreign Military Sale procedure, following the State Department’s decision, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency notifies Congress. The agreement may then undergo additional approvals and negotiations regarding terms, budget, quantity, and delivery schedules.

In other words, this refers to a potential sale, not a completed transfer.
