There are no plans to allow Russia to return to the Eurovision Song Contest. The media has misinterpreted the information. At this time, the issue of the Russian broadcaster’s return is not even being discussed.

This was stated by the contest’s director, Martin Green, during a press conference ahead of the Eurovision 2026 Grand Final, reports "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Novosti.LIVE.

Denial of claims regarding Russia’s return to Eurovision

A reporter asked Martin Green whether Russia could return to the contest during the war in Ukraine. In response, the contest director noted that the reporter had “apparently read some misinterpreted information in the press.”

Let me be perfectly clear. There are no negotiations regarding the return of the Russian broadcaster to Eurovision. And there are no plans in this regard,” Green emphasized.

Earlier, a number of media outlets reported, citing Martin Green’s statement in an interview with LBC, that Russia’s return to the contest was theoretically possible. This could happen even during a full-scale invasion. In British political circles, this statement was criticized and called unacceptable.
