The well-known Polish discount retailer Pepco plans to overtake its direct competitors on the Ukrainian market—the LPP and Modivo chains—in the coming years. To do so, the chain intends to actively expand following the completion of its pilot phase in Ukraine, which will begin in October 2026 and last several months. Marcin Stanko, Pepco’s Chief Operating Officer for Central and Eastern Europe, spoke about this in an exclusive interview with LIGA.net, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

At the time of Pepco’s launch on the Ukrainian market, there are already more than 500 LPP stores (the Sinsay, Reserved, House, Cropp, and Mohito brands) in operation, and the Modivo group (CCC, Half Price, Worldbox) has more than 30 stores, but plans to increase that number to 100.

“If our competitors have such grand ambitions, we must have even greater ones. The only question is how quickly we can achieve them. Because Pepco is always number one when it comes to the discount segment,” emphasizes Marcin Stanko.

According to him, the company plans to quickly “build brand recognition” and become the number one discounter in Ukraine.

When asked whether Pepco might follow the same path as LPP, opening 100 stores a year, Pepco’s Chief Operating Officer for Central and Eastern Europe replied, “Of course.”

“Compare the situation in Poland (where, according to official data, Pepco has over 1,400 stores, while Sinsay has about 600–650 stores. — Ed.) or Romania (530 stores versus 250. — Ed.). We are the largest player in every market where we operate,” emphasized Marcin Stanko.

On May 21, Pepco Group officially announced its entry into the Ukrainian market. Ukraine will become the group’s 20th European market.
