Kirkorov boasted about his role in Bulgaria’s victory at Eurovision: here’s what he said

Russian singer Philip Kirkorov, who supports Russia’s war against Ukraine, stated that he was involved in Bulgaria’s preparations for “Eurovision 2026.” It was this country that won this year’s grand final of the contest. RBC-Ukraine reports this, citing the artist’s comments to Russian TV host Yana Churikova, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to Kirkorov, his team allegedly helped promote singer Dara ahead of “Eurovision” and worked on her performance.

The singer stated that he could not pass up the opportunity to once again be involved in a performance under the flag of Bulgaria, which he called his “little homeland.”
According to him, Bulgarian television allegedly approached him with a request to support the country at the contest.
“I couldn’t deny myself such a pleasure. And although my appearance at the contest itself would likely have sparked unhealthy interest both at the contest and in our country, I might have been misunderstood. Although music has no borders and should have nothing to do with politics,” the Putinist stated.
Kirkorov claims that his physical presence at the contest was not necessary.
Instead, he said, he and his team selected a singer and began preparing her for the national selection.
Ultimately, Dara passed the selection and represented Bulgaria at Eurovision.
The artist also spoke about the preparations for the contest and highlighted the Bulgarian representative’s popularity on social media.
In addition, Kirkorov mentioned Bulgaria’s alleged “love” for Russia.
“Whatever the case, Bulgaria was our 16th republic. Bulgarians love Russians very much and miss Russia. But, again, music has no borders. And for me, working with Bulgaria this year is a matter of honor, dignity, and memory of my father, who was connected to Bulgaria. I simply had to do it,” the propagandist revealed.
Russian singer Sergey Lazarev also reacted to Bulgaria’s victory.
In his Stories, he congratulated the winning team and mentioned composer Dimitris Kontopoulos, who had previously worked on his contest songs.
“Bulgaria won Eurovision 2026 with a song written by composer Dimitris Kontopoulos, the author of my ‘You Are The Only One’ and ‘Scream.’ Also, the Dream Team worked with the singer, and Philip was involved. My congratulations! I’m sooooo happy and proud of you! You deserve it!” Lazarev wrote.
It should be noted that from the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Philip Kirkorov sided with the aggressor country and supported the war.
He has also repeatedly appeared at events in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
By participating in such events, the artist effectively contributed to legitimizing the occupation and spreading Russian propaganda.
In 2025, the SBU notified Kirkorov of his status as a suspect for violating entry procedures into the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
