Restrictions on the use of electricity will continue in Ukraine for another 2-3 years. This forecast was made by Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Research Center, on the air of the Kyiv24 TV channel, [komersannt] reports.

“It is a common situation when we have restrictions at temperatures of -5 degrees and below. We simply do not have enough generation capacity left in the country,” Kharchenko said.

The director of the Energy Research Center also commented on the consequences of the Russian combined attack on the energy sector that took place on December 25. According to him, the blackouts may be prolonged due to difficult weather conditions. If Ukraine experiences frosts, the energy sector may tighten restrictions for household consumers.

Meanwhile, journalist and founder of the Nashi Hroshi project Yuriy Nikolov suggested that Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Kyiv, and Zaporizhzhia may be left without electricity as a result of a Russian missile and drone attack on December 25.

According to him, this time the Russian occupiers managed to destroy a number of generating facilities on the left bank of Ukraine and one important energy facility in the west of our country.

“I won’t give away a military secret: (the Russians – ed.) are knocking out the remnants of energy production in the conventionally left-bank Ukraine. This means that Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia receive energy from the conditionally right-bank Ukraine, where all our nuclear power plants operate,” Nikolov wrote.

He added that the next Russian missile attack, which they could also direct at the Ukrainian energy sector, could tentatively take place in a week. This is enough time for the enemy to accumulate the necessary number of missiles. But the power generation may also come under fire on January 7, the day when Russia celebrates Christmas.
