Azerbaijan Delivered a Note of Protest to the Russian Ambassador
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed a note of protest to Russian Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov. The incident was prompted by yet another attack on a SOCAR gas station in the Mykolaiv region.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that the attack on the evening of July 5 was not an isolated incident. Previously, the Russians had already struck a SOCAR gas distribution compressor station and an SOCAR oil depot, resulting in property damage and injuries to company employees.

Russian Strikes on Azerbaijani Facilities in Ukraine
As a reminder, on August 8 of last year, Russia attacked an oil depot belonging to the Azerbaijani oil company SOCAR in the Odesa region with “Shahed” drones. The strike caused a fire and damaged a diesel fuel pipeline.
On the night of August 18, the occupiers carried out a second strike on the SOCAR oil refinery in the Odesa region. After the “Shahed” strikes hit, a fire broke out; all storage tanks, the pumping station, control rooms, weighing stations, and technical facilities were damaged, and the perimeter fence was destroyed.
In addition, prior to this, Russia launched dozens of strikes on a gas transportation infrastructure facility near Ukraine’s border with Romania. Gas from the United States and Azerbaijan was being transported to Ukraine through this station.
On the night of November 14, Russia launched a massive strike on Kyiv. During the shelling, the Azerbaijani embassy was damaged by shrapnel.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated at the time that Russia had attacked Azerbaijan’s energy infrastructure and embassy in Ukraine three times. In response, Azerbaijan issued “special” statements, briefed its ambassador, and submitted a diplomatic note. He explained that after the first attack, Baku could have assumed it was an accident. Therefore, the country provided the Russians with all the coordinates of its diplomatic missions in Ukraine, including the consular section, cultural centers, and other facilities. However, the attacks continued.
Russian Ambassador Mikhail Yevdokimov had already been summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry building at that time. A protest was lodged with him regarding the “Iskander” missile striking the territory of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyiv in November 2025.
Shortly thereafter, the Russian Foreign Ministry responded to President Aliyev’s statement, saying that it had “received with surprise” Baku’s remarks.
