Due to safety concerns with door handles: Tesla is recalling nearly three million electric vehicles in China

Tesla is recalling 2.98 million vehicles in China due to the color of the door handles, which could pose safety risks in emergency situations. This was reported by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The statement notes that the emergency mechanical door handles in some vehicles are virtually indistinguishable in color from the interior trim, making them difficult to spot and use.
Consequently, in the event of a serious accident, this could prevent passengers from quickly opening the car doors or hinder the work of rescue workers.
As part of the recall, automakers will update the software to automatically lower the windows after a crash and will place warning stickers indicating the location of the emergency door latches.
The recall of electric vehicles is expected to begin on September 25, 2026.
Earlier, a Bloomberg investigation reported on a series of incidents involving Tesla vehicles in which passengers were locked inside their cars after losing power due to the electric door handles.
In several cases, passengers in the company’s vehicles survived the initial impact of high-speed crashes but died or suffered severe injuries as a result of subsequent vehicle fires, unable to escape.
