Ukrainian law enforcement authorities have charged a former village council member in the Vinnytsia region with illegal enrichment. It was found that he failed to declare assets worth nearly 32 million hryvnias.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine and the National Agency for Corruption Prevention ( NACP), according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
What is the deputy suspected of?
Investigators from the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine suspect the former deputy of the Ivanivka Village Council in the Khmilnytskyi district of illegal enrichment and false reporting. An audit of his 2022 declaration revealed numerous violations.

The former deputy failed to list 62 agricultural land plots and 29 vehicles in his declaration, including three Mercedes-Benz cars purchased in 2022. Five real estate properties, including residential buildings and gas stations, were also not declared.
The total value of property acquired in 2022 exceeded 42 million hryvnias, while his confirmed income amounted to only 5.3 million. This indicates signs of illicit enrichment. In particular, two Mercedes-Benz cars were registered at significantly undervalued prices.
It should be noted that Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smiliansky proposed introducing mandatory income reporting for all Ukrainian citizens.
At the same time, he criticized the current model of open electronic declarations for officials and stated that he considers a closed but mandatory reporting system for everyone to be a more effective approach.
