The “Restoration of Ukraine” parliamentary group stated that the president is seeking a replacement for NBU Governor Pyshnyy. In an interview “Breakfast with Tishchenko,” Mykola Tyshchenko shared what he knows about a possible change in leadership at the National Bank of Ukraine, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

When asked if he knew anything about the possible dismissal of Andriy Pyshnyy from the National Bank, Tyschenko noted:

“Yes, his position is shaky; I’ve heard that, but the president doesn’t have any candidates yet.”

When asked whether former Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova could take his place, the lawmaker ruled out that possibility.

“Markarova is out of the question; her husband is a shareholder in Akkord Bank. Under the law governing the National Bank, that constitutes a direct conflict of interest,” the politician said.

He also commented on the possibility of appointing former NBU Deputy Chair Kateryna Rozhkova.

“Rozhkova lost a case to the Deposit Guarantee Fund, and there was even a recent Supreme Court ruling involving 1.5 billion hryvnias. And under the law on the National Bank, this is also a conflict of interest,” Tyschenko added.

The deputy also commented on the candidacy of Serhiy Nikolaychuk (first deputy head of the NBU).

“Nikolaychuk is the first deputy, yes. But there’s also the problem that he worked at ICU, which is second in terms of its portfolio of domestic government bonds. And he is, as they say, Gontareva’s man. That is why the president has doubts and sees conflicts of interest everywhere. The president knows the law, so they are still looking for a candidate,” Mykola Tyshchenko concluded.

As a reminder, former MP Boryslav Bereza previously reported, citing his sources, that personnel changes could occur in Ukraine’s financial sector. According to him, questions may soon arise regarding the continued tenure of, in particular, Andriy Pyshnyy, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine. However, as of now, government agencies have not announced any official personnel decisions regarding Andriy Pyshnyy. There are also no official statements regarding their resignations from the Cabinet of Ministers, the Office of the President, or the National Bank of Ukraine.
