The occupying authorities have restricted traffic on yet another section of the “land bridge” to Crimea

The Moscow-appointed authorities in the occupied Luhansk region have restricted civilian traffic on the R-280 “Novorossiya” highway and a section of the R-150 road, reports “Crimea Realities,” citing a decree by “LPR” head Leonid Pasichnyk, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

Starting June 6, both regular and irregular passenger transport is prohibited on sections of the R-150 Belgorod–Starobilsk–Luhansk–Donetsk–Mariupol highway and the R-280 “Novorossiya” Rostov-on-Don–Mariupol–Melitopol–Simferopol. The restrictions were introduced “due to armed aggression by the Ukrainian Armed Forces” and will remain in effect until “further notice.”

The transport of organized groups of children by car through the territory of the “LPR” is also prohibited. An exception is made for events organized by the region’s Ministry of Education.

In addition, all intercity train service has been suspended; exceptions will be determined by the “LPR” Ministry of Transport. The authorities did not ban domestic bus service, but allowed adjustments to some routes and urged people to avoid traveling on the R-150 and “Novorossiya” highways whenever possible, the latter of which is considered a “land bridge” from Russia to Crimea, stretching over 630 km. Earlier, the occupying authorities of the seized part of the Kherson region had announced traffic restrictions on a section of this highway.

A decree by “Governor” Vladimir Saldo prohibited freight transport from traveling on the section from km 463 to km 494 of the R-280 highway. Exceptions were made for military cargo, medicines, and fuel, equipment “for infrastructure restoration,” as well as certain food products and essential goods.

In recent weeks, authorities, local residents, and bloggers have regularly reported strikes by Ukrainian medium-range drones on military cargo traveling by land to Crimea. As a result, a severe fuel crisis has emerged on the peninsula and in other occupied territories, and a shortage of goods in stores has even begun to develop.
