The European Union is finalizing a large-scale aid package aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s drone fleet. The package is valued at 6 billion euros. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a statement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Details of the aid and response to Russian attacks
According to von der Leyen, the decision to allocate funds comes amid an escalation of Russian terror. In particular, she mentioned the latest massive drone attack on Ukrainian cities.
“Last night, Russia launched one of its longest and most ruthless drone attacks on Ukraine. Another night of death and destruction,” the European Commission President emphasized.
She added that as long as the Kremlin ignores diplomatic efforts, the EU will continue to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and put pressure on the aggressor’s economy.
“We are finalizing a €6 billion drone support package. And we continue to put pressure on Russia’s war economy through increasingly tough sanctions,” von der Leyen stated.
