Weather in Ukraine on May 14: Rain and thunderstorms on the Left Bank; the warmest conditions will be in the east
14 May 01:20
On Thursday, May 14, the weather in Ukraine will vary by region. The Left Bank will be under the influence of atmospheric fronts, so intermittent rain is expected there, with thunderstorms possible in some areas. In contrast, much of the Right Bank will be under the influence of a high-pressure system, so dry weather will prevail there.
This was reported by meteorologist Natalka Didenko, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Where will there be rain and thunderstorms on May 14?
According to the forecaster’s prediction, atmospheric fronts will primarily affect the Left Bank of Ukraine. It is there that periodic rain is possible throughout the day, with thunderstorms in some places.
The situation will be calmer across much of the Right Bank. Thanks to the influence of the anticyclone, dry weather will prevail there, with no significant precipitation.
Where will it be coldest
On May 14, the coolest conditions will be in a band stretching from north to south through the central regions. According to Natalka Didenko, the lowest daytime temperatures are expected along the line:
- Chernihiv region;
- Cherkasy region;
- Kropyvnytskyi;
- areas up to Mykolaiv Oblast.
In these regions, the air temperature will be only 12–14 degrees.
Where will it be warmest
The warmest weather on Thursday is expected in the eastern regions of Ukraine. There, temperatures will rise to 20–23 degrees.
In the rest of the country, temperatures will be moderate—mostly 14–17 degrees.
Weather in Kyiv on May 14
It will be cool in Kyiv on May 14. During the day, the air temperature will be around 16 degrees.
Rain is possible in the capital from time to time, most likely in the evening. Therefore, Kyiv residents should carry an umbrella or raincoat, especially if they plan to head home after work.
Why the weather will be so contrasting
The weather contrasts on May 14 are due to the differing influences of air masses. The left bank will be under the influence of atmospheric fronts, which will bring precipitation and unstable weather.
The right bank of Ukraine, on the other hand, will be under the influence of an anticyclone. It is this system that will ensure mostly dry weather in many western, central, and southern regions.
