On the night of May 1, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Odesa using strike drones. Two high-rise buildings in the city were hit. This was reported by Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

According to him, information regarding casualties and the extent of the damage is being clarified.

What is known about the attack on Odesa

Russian troops attacked Odesa with drones on the night of Friday, May 1. According to preliminary data, the enemy again targeted residential areas of the city.

Serhiy Lysak reported a fire in a 16-story building. A strike on another high-rise was also recorded, where a fire broke out on the 11th and 12th floors.

“The enemy has attacked our city again. As a result of the attack, a fire was reported in a 16-story building. We also have a hit on another high-rise—a fire broke out there on the 11th and 12th floors,” Lysak said.

Emergency services are on the scene

Fires broke out in Odesa after residential buildings were hit. Rescue workers, medical personnel, police, and other emergency services are on the scene.

City authorities are currently verifying information about casualties, damage to apartments, the condition of buildings, and the possible need to evacuate residents.

Odesa was attacked for the second night in a row

The nighttime attack on May 1 was a continuation of a series of Russian strikes on Odesa. On the night of April 30, the city also came under a massive drone attack. According to Reuters, at least 18 people were injured, including a 17-year-old teenager, and two of the wounded were in critical condition in intensive care.

The most extensive damage on April 30 was recorded in Odesa’s Primorskyi district: high-rise buildings and five-story residential buildings were damaged, and fires broke out on upper floors and rooftops. Damage was also reported to a kindergarten, a shopping center, a hotel, administrative buildings, and dozens of cars.

Which facilities were damaged earlier

During the previous attack on April 30, Russian drones damaged residential buildings, a kindergarten, a shopping center, a hotel, administrative buildings, warehouses, a garage cooperative, and vehicles in parking lots.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported at the time that Russia had launched one ballistic missile and 206 drones at Ukraine, of which 172 were shot down or neutralized.
