Russia launched a massive attack on the energy sector: six regions are without power

6 July 11:09

On Monday, July 6, Russian troops carried out yet another massive combined attack using missiles and drones, striking civilian energy infrastructure facilities. As a result of the shelling, consumers in six regions of Ukraine were temporarily left without power. This was reported by Ukrenergo, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Which regions were left without power

According to energy officials, new power outages were recorded in the following regions:

  • Kyiv Oblast;
  • Chernihiv Oblast;
  • Sumy Oblast;
  • Kharkiv Oblast;
  • Dnipropetrovsk Oblast;
  • Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Ukrenergo notes that emergency repair work has already begun wherever the security situation allows.

Utility workers are working around the clock to restore power to all consumers as quickly as possible.

Severe weather has also left dozens of communities without power

In addition to the consequences of Russian shelling, power supply issues have also arisen due to adverse weather conditions.

In the Sumy region, 58 settlements have been completely or partially left without power due to thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind.

Repair crews from the regional power company are already restoring the damaged power lines.

Will there be power outages on July 6?

The Ministry of Energy reported that, as of July 6, no power rationing schedules are expected to be implemented.

At the same time, the ministry emphasized that the situation may change depending on the state of the power grid and the consequences of Russian attacks.

Consumers are advised to monitor announcements from their local power distribution system operators (regional power companies).

Ukrainians are urged to conserve electricity

Despite the absence of planned outages, energy officials are asking citizens to use electricity sparingly, especially during peak hours—in the morning and evening.

Ukrenergo also recommends postponing the use of high-power electrical appliances until between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., when industrial solar power plants are actively operating.

Electricity consumption has decreased

According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption in Ukraine on July 6 was 13.8% lower than on the previous business day.

This was due to a significant drop in air temperature in most regions of the country, causing Ukrainians to use air conditioners much less frequently.

At the same time, energy officials emphasize that even with a lower load, the system remains vulnerable to Russian attacks, so they are urging the public to use electricity responsibly.
