Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi thanked Mykhailo Fedorov for his service as Ukraine’s Minister of Defense and expressed his hope that Fedorov would remain part of Ukraine’s team. Syrskyi wrote about this on Telegram on Thursday, July 16, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“I thank Mykhailo Fedorov for his service as Ukraine’s Minister of Defense. I hope he will continue to be part of Ukraine’s team,” the post reads.
He also added that he is proud that, thanks to the Kyiv Defense Operation in 2022, which he led, the capital was successfully defended.
“I am proud that, thanks to the Kyiv Defense Operation in 2022, we managed to defend our capital. And now, briefings can be held, visions can be formed, and decisions can be made in this city,” Syrskyi emphasized.
He promised to make every effort to ensure that such events can take place in a free and independent Ukraine.
“To do this, we need to focus on the war and on an effective strategy that is currently yielding concrete results,” Syrskyi stressed.
Background
As a reminder, Mykhailo Fedorov stated at a briefing on Thursday, July 16, that Ukraine needs to replace the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, in order to “defeat the enemy asymmetrically.” In doing so, he confirmed the conflict with Syrskyi.
Fedorov said he had asked the president to dismiss Syrskyi, who had blocked all of his team’s initiatives, and subsequently issued an ultimatum to the commander-in-chief.
