This applies to both men and women: Ukrainians are advised to get their passports stamped when leaving the country

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommends that Ukrainian citizens traveling to the EU to seek temporary protection have their passports stamped upon crossing the state border. This is stated in a clarification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was published on August 20 by the Ukrainian Embassy in Belgium, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the ministry’s explanation, such a stamp can serve as confirmation of lawful departure from Ukraine.
“To avoid potential difficulties when applying for temporary protection in EU countries, we advise all Ukrainian citizens, regardless of gender or age, to obtain a border-crossing stamp in their passport from an officer of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine when leaving Ukraine,” the Ministry’s statement reads.
The ministry explains this recommendation by citing the introduction of new rules in the EU regarding the granting of temporary protection and the fact that there are currently no uniform, centralized guidelines on their application across all member states.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that Ukrainian citizens who are already abroad and need official confirmation of crossing the state border can contact the Main Center for Processing Special Information of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine online.
The statement notes that in some European Union countries, Ukrainians—particularly women—were required to provide information from the “Reserve” app when applying for temporary protection.
This is related to the European Council’s decision adopted on July 30, which stipulates that temporary protection must be granted to Ukrainian citizens who are fulfilling their military duties in accordance with Ukrainian law, with appropriate confirmation provided where necessary.
This provision applies to both men and women and does not apply to individuals who already had temporary protection in the relevant EU country as of July 30 and have continuously maintained that status.
In the coming weeks, the European Commission will present updated operational guidelines to member states regarding the new rules for granting temporary protection to Ukrainians.
