The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has announced the “launch of the rotation process” on the frontline. He wrote about this in his official Telegram channel, according to Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/

“…Despite the rather difficult situation on the entire front line, we managed to launch the process of rotation and replacement of units and subdivisions that have been performing combat missions on the front line for a long time. This will stabilise the situation and have a positive impact on the moral and psychological state of our soldiers. In the course of work, I made all the necessary decisions to improve the combat capabilities of our brigades,”

– syrsky wrote, reporting on his work in the brigades currently deployed in the Zaporizhzhia sector.

Two years without rotations?

Military expert Mykhailo Zhyrokhov notes that rotations are a normal process at the front, taking place regularly in most areas.

“I don’t know why this has aroused such a keen interest. Rotations take place all the time. For example, we have the 119th Territorial Defence Brigade. Two battalions there are on a rotational basis on the frontline for 1-2 months and then return to Chernihiv region. This is what I know personally. Other brigades are also at the front on a rotational basis,”

– says the expert.

According to him, rotations happen to everyone, and there are practically no soldiers who have spent two years on the front line.

“I don’t know of people who would have been “at zero” for two years. What is a rotation? They are taken to a training ground, all of them are immediately given leave, then they return, they are manned up, during this time the equipment is repaired, they are given new equipment, everything that is required according to the staffing table. And then, after a certain period of time, a month and a half, they return to another part of the frontline. This system has been working for the last 8 years for sure,”

– zhyrokhov is convinced

The information provided by Syrsky makes sense, the expert says, if we are talking about replacing an entire brigade. However, in such cases, this is not openly discussed. It is also likely that the commander-in-chief is trying to mislead the enemy in this way.

“Maybe we are talking about replacing an entire brigade? Then I don’t understand why they are talking about it openly. As a rule, when a new brigade comes in on rotation, the enemy tries to “feel it out” until people know all the features of this area. They start shelling them, taking some active steps. That’s why, for example, the rotation during the ATO and JFO was a big secret. So that the enemy would not know. Sooner or later, the locals will still say that a new brigade has arrived, but in military terms, this is how it is done. Why does Syrsky do it openly? I don’t know, maybe it’s a cunning plan,”

– suggested Mikhail Zhirokhov.
