A man opened fire in the Kharkiv metro: details

On the evening of Sunday, April 26, a shooting occurred at one of Kharkiv’s central metro stations. A man who was intoxicated opened fire with a pistol. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a Telegram post from the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

“According to preliminary data, on April 26 at around 9:10 p.m. at the “Historical Museum” metro station, a 20-year-old man, while intoxicated, fired a single shot into the air from a starter pistol,” the statement said.

No one was injured as a result of the incident. No damage to infrastructure was reported either.

The prosecutor’s office added that evidence is currently being gathered and all circumstances of the incident are being established.

The preliminary legal classification is hooliganism (Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The Slobidska District Prosecutor’s Office in Kharkiv will oversee the proceedings.
