Breast milk donation is being promoted in Kyiv: a “corporate monster” visited the bank

The Kyiv Perinatal Center continues to raise awareness about breast milk donation—this time through creative communication. A post has appeared on the Breast Milk Bank’s page featuring a child dressed in a “monster” costume who visited the facility with his donor mother, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
As the center explains, behind the vivid image lies a simple yet important idea: donated milk is, above all, about care, love, and a chance at life for the youngest patients.

The breast milk bank has been operating at the capital’s perinatal center since 2019. Here, donated milk is collected, tested, processed, and provided to infants who cannot receive breast milk from their mothers. All processes—from donor screening to storage—are strictly monitored by medical professionals.
Most often, premature babies require this assistance. According to medical professionals, the use of donor milk reduces the risk of serious complications and promotes better infant development.
Any healthy woman who is breastfeeding her own child and has an excess of milk can become a donor. Before doing so, she undergoes a medical examination, and the milk itself undergoes laboratory testing.
As noted by Dmitry Govseev, director of the Perinatal Center, commenting on the initiative:
“Donor breast milk is not just an alternative to formula, but a clinically proven factor in reducing risks for newborns, especially premature babies. It contains a unique complex of immunological components, enzymes, and biologically active substances that cannot be fully replicated in any artificial formula. At our bank, every donor undergoes thorough medical screening, and the milk undergoes multi-level testing, pasteurization (using the Holder method, specifically designed for pasteurizing breast milk—ed.), and quality control. This ensures safety and maximum benefit for infants. In fact, we are talking about a therapeutic resource that saves lives every day and significantly improves the prognosis for the most vulnerable patients.”
The center emphasizes: every drop of donor milk is a real chance for the infants who need it most, and any mother who meets the medical criteria can join the initiative.
