A homemade explosive device detonated at a restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square in Moscow, according to Russian propaganda media citing a statement from the press center of the Russian Federation’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
Three people were killed in the explosion: a restaurant patron, his bodyguard, and a woman who attempted to smuggle a bomb into the building; 21 people were injured.

The target of the explosion was guests at a private event on the terrace of the Balzi Rossi restaurant. According to the publication, the party was heavily guarded. The woman who attempted to bring the explosive device inside told the security guard who stopped her that she was carrying a gift in a box; however, the security guard decided to inspect the box, and the explosion occurred at that moment.
“The bomb was detonated remotely. The force of the explosion was equivalent to one kilogram of TNT, and the device itself was loaded with metal pellets, which is why people on the restaurant’s terrace were also injured,” a media source said. According to the source, the female courier was “literally blown to pieces”; her arm was found on the road more than ten meters from the site of the explosion.
The publication ASTRA, citing an eyewitness, reported that a general’s birthday was being celebrated at Balzi Rossi. On August 1, two Russian generals celebrate their birthdays: Major General Vladimir Seliverstov, who commanded the 106th Airborne Division and participated in the 2022 offensive on Kyiv, and Lieutenant General Alexander Yaroshevich—head of the Ministry of Defense’s Department of Logistics—writes military analyst Yan Matveev.
“But, of course, they could have celebrated on a different day. There is speculation that there was a party in honor of Chaika, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force,” Matveev notes.
Supporting the theory that Chaika was celebrating his birthday at Balzi Rossi is a video posted by one of the bloggers. It shows the restaurant’s dining room, with a banner on the wall reading “Alexander—55 Years Old.” Chaika turned 55 on July 27.
