There has been talk in the Verkhovna Rada about possible issues with the “yes” votes for Mykhailo Fedorov

12 July 18:04

Following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s announcement of an upcoming reshuffle of the government and law enforcement agencies, discussions began in parliament not only about the possible composition of the new Cabinet of Ministers but also about how easily the Presidential Administration would be able to get certain candidates approved by the Verkhovna Rada, according to [“Kommersant”].

One of the main points of intrigue could be the possible appointment of Mykhailo Fedorov. On the one hand, he is being named as a candidate for the post of prime minister; on the other, politicians do not rule out the possibility of his reappointment as defense minister.

Indeed, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, commenting on upcoming personnel decisions, stated that the candidacy of the defense minister is likely to raise the most questions during the vote.

“If it’s Fedorov, the vote will be very difficult for him,” the lawmaker noted.

MP Roman Kaptelov also spoke about potential difficulties in securing support for this candidate.

“I have a feeling that it won’t be easy to secure enough votes in the Verkhovna Rada for the new prime minister. But if Fedorov becomes one of the candidates and receives parliamentary support, that raises serious questions for me, ” the MP wrote.

Kaptelov explains his position by noting that Ukraine is entering “yet another winter without peace,” and therefore, particularly high standards must be set for the leaders of key sectors.

“Fedorov has not demonstrated the results… that society expects today. There have been many presentations and high-profile statements, but key problems—particularly in the areas of mobilization and logistics—remain,” the politician added on his Telegram channel.

In fact, even before the personnel votes begin in the Verkhovna Rada, the main question is already taking shape: will the government have enough votes to get all the candidates proposed by Bankova approved?

So far, there has been no official information regarding the nomination of Mykhailo Fedorov for any government position.
