The Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a new operation in the Sea of Azov, striking dozens of vessels that Russia uses for military logistics and to circumvent sanctions. This was reported by [Komersant], citing the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that it had struck 21 tankers, as well as Russian tugboats and other vessels, in the waters of the Sea of Azov.
“The tankers are used to transport oil and petroleum products in circumvention of international sanctions, providing funds to finance armed aggression against Ukraine,” the Ukrainian military said in a statement.
Additionally, according to the General Staff, four tugboats, two dry cargo ships, and a dredger—used by the Russian Armed Forces to support military logistics, transport cargo, and maintain port infrastructure—were struck.
According to Robert Brovdi, commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces (USF), the USF struck 28 vessels in the Sea of Azov on the night of July 11, and 76 vessels over the past six days.
“The shadow oil fleet is shrinking significantly; the week of disruption continues. It appears that traffic through the Kerch Strait has been halted,” he wrote on social media on Saturday.
As a reminder, on the night of July 9, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a large-scale strike against Russian targets in the Sea of Azov. Twelve vessels were struck, along with an oil terminal and an ammunition depot belonging to the occupiers.
