8 May 09:37

On the night of May 7, Ukrainian drones launched a massive attack on Russian regions. The Yaroslavl Region was targeted, according to the region’s governor, Mikhail Yevraev, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" citing Russian propaganda media.

According to Yevraev, all the drones were shot down as they approached Yaroslavl, and there were no casualties. According to eyewitness videos analyzed by Astra, the drones targeted the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery, which is controlled by Rosneft and Gazprom. A fire broke out at the facility following the strike. The refinery is among the five largest in Russia and one of the largest in the Central Federal District. The plant has the capacity to process up to 15 million tons of raw materials per year. The facility had previously been attacked in March.

Drones also attacked the Rostov region last night. According to the region’s head, Yuri Slyusar, damage was reported in Taganrog, Rostov-on-Don, and the Myasnikovsky District as a result of falling drone debris. Specifically, a “four-story administrative building” was damaged in Rostov. According to Astra’s analysis, the fire broke out in the Western Industrial Hub area, where many enterprises are located, including the “Empils” chemical and paint plant, which was attacked in January 2026. “Empils” is one of the largest chemical plants in southern Russia. Also located nearby is a branch of the “Radar Scientific and Technical Center,” which develops and maintains special-purpose systems. One of the center’s clients is the Russian Ministry of Defense.

In addition, drones attacked Perm.

“Enemy drones have struck industrial sites in the Perm region. All emergency services are on the scene. Employees have been evacuated. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties or injuries,” said the region’s governor, Dmitry Makhonin. He did not specify which industrial site was involved. Prior to this, drones attacked the Lukoil-Permnaftorgsintez (PNOS) oil refinery and the Perm line-production-dispatch station (LPDS) of Transneft in Perm.
