One of the main tasks for the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, is to conduct an audit of people already mobilised to the army. Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said this during the telethon, according to ![]()
“Yesterday, the President said this. Look, we have almost a million mobilised today. And along the front line, directly at war, there are 200-300 thousand. The rest were very far from the war. But they are there. They are mobilised. Therefore, it seems to me that one of Mr Syrsky’s key tasks is to conduct an audit of where, who, and how they are. And then to say how many more are needed. Mr Syrsky must say where these people who are already mobilised today have been used or will be used,”
– podoliak said.
He is confident that under the leadership of the new Commander-in-Chief, the General Staff will communicate with the public much more clearly on mobilisation and rotation issues.
“All issues related to the manning of the Armed Forces, mobilisation, rotation, all this will be connected with the General Staff. Everything related to mobilisation should be clearly explained by the military. Today, the General Staff can provide a clear explanation of the TCC, what needs in the army need to be filled, and rotations,”
– said the adviser.
Draft law on mobilisation
on 7 February, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new draft law on mobilisation as a basis. It proposes, among other things, to introduce summonses through the conscript’s electronic cabinet. Other innovations include lowering the conscription age to 25 years, setting a demobilisation period of 36 months, introducing voluntary mobilisation for convicts, restrictions on evaders, banning civil service without military training, etc. Read more about the new document in our article: Government submits new draft law on mobilisation: main provisions.
