The European Investment Bank is interested in supporting the development of irrigation systems and biomethane production in Ukraine. This is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Economy, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
The development of irrigation and drainage systems, the implementation of investment projects in the field of land reclamation and water resource management, and the execution of the irrigation and drainage strategy through 2030 were key topics at a meeting between representatives of Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture and the European Investment Bank.
The parties also discussed priority needs for modernizing land reclamation infrastructure and developing a sustainable biomethane market. This will help the Ukrainian agricultural sector adapt to climate change and integrate into the EU market.
As a reminder, a new biomethane plant owned by the “Teofipol Energy Company” was launched in Ukraine in March. It was expected that another, the seventh biomethane plant, would begin operations in Ukraine this year.
The government has approved a program for the development of biomethane production through 2035, which will enable Ukraine to become a major producer of biogas and an exporter to the European Union.
