Cucumber prices are falling in Ukraine: the main reasons

5 June 12:14

This week, the Ukrainian market has seen a downward trend in prices for greenhouse cucumbers, according to analysts from the EastFruit project, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

Project experts describe the latest price drop in this segment in early June as typical, given the increased supply of vegetables from summer greenhouses.

As of today, Ukrainian greenhouse complexes are selling cucumbers at a price of 35–65 UAH/kg ($0.79–1.47/kg), which is on average 17% cheaper than a week earlier. According to the project’s experts, the reason for the price drop is the so-called seasonal factor, as the market has seen a growing supply of these vegetables from local farms.

According to representatives of the complexes, the main reason for the price drop is the fairly significant supply of cucumbers from summer greenhouses in the southern region, which are being sold at an average of 25 UAH/kg ($0.56/kg).

At the same time, it is worth noting that, despite the latest price drop, Ukrainian processing plants are currently shipping cucumbers at an average price 17% higher than in early June 2025.
