Currency rates have risen sharply: exchange rates for the dollar, euro, and zloty as of May 12

The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official exchange rates for Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Following the weekend, the hryvnia continued to weaken against major currencies. This is according to data from the NBU, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"

Dollar exchange rate as of May 12

The official dollar exchange rate as of May 12 is:

  • 1 U.S. dollar — 43.96 UAH

The NBU’s exact exchange rate is 43.9584 UAH per dollar. The day before, on May 11, the dollar was worth 43.85 UAH. Thus, the U.S. currency has risen in value by approximately 10 kopecks.

Euro exchange rate as of May 12

The official euro exchange rate for Tuesday is set at:

  • 1 euro — 51.72 UAH

According to precise data from the NBU, the euro exchange rate is 51.7237 UAH. On Monday, May 11, the euro was worth 51.59 UAH. Thus, the European currency has risen in value by approximately 13 kopecks.

Zloty exchange rate as of May 12

The official exchange rate of the Polish zloty is:

  • 1 Polish zloty — 12.20 UAH

The NBU’s exact exchange rate is 12.2019 UAH per zloty. The Polish currency also rose slightly in value, but there was no significant jump.

Exchange rates at currency exchange offices

On the cash market, the exchange rate may differ from the official rate, as banks and exchange offices set their own rates depending on supply, demand, and region.

At currency exchange offices, the dollar is sold for an average of about 44.55 UAH and bought for approximately 43.70 UAH. The euro is sold for about 52.25 UAH and bought for approximately 51.50 UAH.

What’s happening with the hryvnia

At the start of the week, the hryvnia weakened against the dollar and the euro. While the dollar was worth 43.80 UAH on May 8 and 43.85 UAH on May 11, the exchange rate rose to 43.96 UAH by May 12.

The trend is similar for the euro: on May 8, the rate was 51.54 UAH, on May 11—51.59 UAH, and on May 12—51.72 UAH. In other words, both major currencies have been gradually appreciating for several days in a row.
