On the night of Saturday, May 30, Russian forces attacked the train station in the city of Shostka, Sumy Oblast, with several dozen suicide bombers; the building was completely destroyed, according to Ukrzaliznytsia, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
There were no casualties as a result of the attack; passengers and station employees were in shelters.
“A typical ‘decision-making center’: a civilian station from which hundreds of people in the Sumy region traveled daily to conduct their personal business,” Ukrzaliznytsia commented.
The company added that a number of commuter trains bound for Shostka will run today from Konotop to Tereshchenska Station and back.
The State Emergency Service reported that as a result of a massive UAV strike overnight in Shostka, fires broke out, and residential and non-residential buildings, administrative structures, and vehicles were damaged.
Rescue workers extinguished the fires and surveyed the damaged areas simultaneously at several locations. Due to the threat of repeated strikes, operations were temporarily suspended.
All fire outbreaks have been extinguished.
Overnight, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with seven ballistic and cruise missiles and 290 drones. Air defense forces neutralized 284 targets—five Kh-101 missiles and 279 UAVs, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
