“The Illusion of Legality”: A Lawyer Explains Why the ‘Wanted’ Status in ‘Reserve’ Has No Legal Standing
29 April 18:35
The “wanted” status in the “Reserve” app is often the result of technical errors during data digitization or delays in updating information about a person subject to military service, rather than an actual criminal or administrative investigation. Lawyer Serhiy Kasyanchuk stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The so-called ‘wanted’ status in the ‘Reserve’ app is not provided for by law. This is a narrative being pushed through ‘Reserve’ to create the illusion of legality when detaining a person. Until a person is held administratively or criminally liable, the law does not allow this data to be entered into the registry,” says Kasyanchuk.

According to him, the concept of “wanted” is sometimes manipulated by TCC representatives primarily to forcibly bring a person to the TCC building.
“And here it is important to note that if you are wanted, a report must be drawn up against you, rather than immediately sending you to the Medical Examination Commission. But the TCC often manipulates this (the concept of “wanted,” — ed.) to intimidate a person and force them to undergo the commission without the ability to contact a lawyer or relatives,” he said.
