ANALYSIS
TikTok has long since ceased to be just a platform for entertaining videos. Today, it is one of the leading platforms for promoting personal brands, businesses, and attracting new customers.
Not all of the financial tools available in the U.S. and most European countries are accessible to the Ukrainian segment of this popular social network.
In particular, TikTok’s official monetization program for video views is still unavailable. At the same time, Ukrainian bloggers can generate income through live streams, ad integrations, and sales of their own products or services.
Which TikTok tools work in Ukraine, does the platform pay Ukrainian bloggers for video views, which monetization methods actually generate income, and which schemes are best to avoid—read about it in this article "Komersant Ukrainian".
Does TikTok Pay for Video Views?
In countries where the Creator Rewards Program is available, creators can earn between $4 and $8 per 1,000 views if their videos meet the platform’s requirements. However, the amount of payment depends not only on the number of views but also on the country where the account was registered, the audience, watch time, and other criteria assessed by algorithms.
To participate in the Creator Rewards Program, a creator must meet the following platform requirements:
- be at least 18 years old;
- have at least 10,000 subscribers;
- have accumulated at least 100,000 views in the last 30 days.
You can apply through the TikTok Studio tab by going to the “Monetization” section and selecting “Creator Rewards Program.” However, this option is not officially available for Ukrainian accounts.
In addition, following the outbreak of full-scale war, TikTok suspended its advertising tools for the Ukrainian market, which also limited opportunities for direct monetization within the platform. At the same time, Ukrainian creators now have the opportunity to promote their published videos to boost account engagement, increase sales, and attract potential customers.
That is why Ukrainian creators primarily earn income not from TikTok itself, but thanks to the audience they have managed to build.
How to Make Money on TikTok in Ukraine: Popular Monetization Options
Despite the lack of payments for views, Ukrainian bloggers can earn money on this platform using other tools.
- Advertising partnerships. Collaborations with brands currently account for the largest share of income for most Ukrainian TikTokers. Ukrainian and even international brands pay for product reviews, ad integrations in native ads, and even invite creators to participate in advertising campaigns.
- Gifts during live streams (Live Gifts). This is one of the few official ways to monetize directly through TikTok that is available to Ukrainian creators. During a live stream, viewers can purchase virtual gifts, which are converted into real money.
To start a live stream, a creator must be at least 16 years old and have more than 1,000 followers on their account.
- Selling Your Own Products and Services. Many bloggers and online stores use TikTok as a platform to attract new customers. Through videos, you can sell clothing, cosmetics, online courses, services, and digital products and services. In this case, TikTok serves as a promotional tool, while the main source of income comes from sales.

How TikTok Ads Work
To promote videos, products, or services, the platform offers the TikTok Ads dashboard, where you can run various ad formats:
- In-Feed Ads—ads that appear among regular videos in the feed;
- Top Feed — the first ad a user sees in their feed;
- Spark Ads — promotion of a video that has already been published;
- TopView — an ad that appears immediately after opening the app;
- Branded Hashtag Challenge — branded challenges using hashtags.
How to Make Money from Video Views on TikTok in Ukraine: Is It Worth Changing Your Account’s Country?
You can find advice online on how to create a profile linked to the U.S., the U.K., or other countries where the Creator Rewards program is available to content creators. Typically, the recommended steps include purchasing a foreign SIM card, using a VPN to log into your account from the selected region, and creating a new account.
However, there are a few important nuances to consider. First, this method doesn’t guarantee monetization, since TikTok’s algorithms take into account not only the country where the account is registered but also the number of views from that country. In other words, if most of your views come from users in Ukraine, this could affect your ability to receive payments even if you’ve registered your account in another country. Second, TikTok may consider the use of false regional data a violation of the platform’s rules, which could result in your account being blocked.
How to Withdraw Money from TikTok: A Step-by-Step Guide
All earnings are displayed in the “Balance” section. If a creator participates in multiple monetization programs, earnings will be broken down by category—for example, revenue from gifts during live streams, content rewards, and other monetization sources.
To withdraw funds, follow these steps:
- Open the desired profile in the TikTok app;
- Tap the menu in the upper-right corner;
- Go to the “Settings & Privacy” tab;
- Open the “Balance” section;
- Select your income source;
- Tap “Withdraw”;
- Specify the payment method (e.g., PayPal) and confirm the transaction.
The minimum withdrawal amount is $10, and it may take up to 15 calendar days for funds to be credited to a Ukrainian dollar-denominated card.
Do you need to pay taxes on income earned on TikTok?
Funds from the platform are transferred exclusively to the accounts of individuals, so they are subject to taxation in accordance with Ukrainian law. Thus, when withdrawing funds to a Ukrainian dollar-denominated card, content creators will need to pay an 18% personal income tax and a 5% military levy.
Although TikTok’s official monetization for views is not yet available in Ukraine, the platform remains an effective tool for earning money, developing a personal brand, placing sponsored content, and promoting goods and services.
